Normandy Tour of D-Day Beaches and Battle Areas

Chris Smyth, his brother Michael, Mel Bean and myself toured the area as civilians over 5 days at the beginning of June. Chris planned the itinerary to take in as much as possible each day and we certainly achieved that! Bunkers and museums featured heavily, but we did also pay our respects at the main War cemeteries and visited all the landing beaches. Personally, I can recommend seeing the museums at Utah Beach, St Mere Eglise, the Tank Museum near Carentan for superbly restored US vehicles, the well thought out Pegasus Memorial Museum, and well fitted Musee le Mur de l’Atlantique. We did not go in the Musee de la Battle Normandy in Bayeux.

We bumped into a number of YMVT members as would be expected.
