Beamish Open Air Museum World War 1 Weekend - April 7th
By Mike Humphreys

The setting and the 1.5mile perimeter road provided the ideal backdrop for the owners of WW1 vehicles to show them to best advantage and on the move.

Although well spread out there were plenty of beautifully restored motorcycles, cars, lorries, steam traction and railway items to see. The latter included the petrol Simplex armoured engine restored some years ago by the Salvage Squad which I particularly like for it's innovative design.

Together with the huge amount permanently on offer to wander around, this made for a great day out.
